The journey planner on this website provides information about public transportation in The Netherlands. Please follow these instructions step by step and discover the possibilities.

General

• All boxes have to be completed.
• If a box is not filled correctly a notification will be displayed.
• While filling out the locations box, you will be able to use hyphens (-) and apostrophes (‘).
• The boxes for postcode will only accept figures and letters. Since postcodes of various countries are accepted, the box will not demand a Dutch postcode.
• The various categories will help you to find the correct location in an easy way if you don’t have an address.
• Addresses can be saved in your personal address book and will be saved as cookies in your browser. You will find the list of choices and your address book in the pull down menu, next to ‘From’ and ‘To’. (If you use the “Safari” browser to navigate the Internet may need two clicks to open the address book).

Planning a trip

• Choose a category in the pull down menu, this will help you to find the correct location. Fill out the required fields.
• Fill out ‘Via’ for a ‘via location’ if necessary.
• Fill out the required fields for the arrival location.
• If you have opted for travelling “from” or “to” an address, filling out the street name is mandatory. If you do not fill out a house number, the OV planner will automatically use the centre of the street.
• Please select the date and time you wish to travel.
• Select your type(s) of transport. 
• The current time and date are filled out automatically the moment you open the Web page.
• The option ‘departure’ is also automatically selected and, if necessary, can be changed into ‘time of arrival’.
• Click on ‘Advise me’.
• When all boxes have been completed the itinerary will appear. If not, the journey planner will request you to further specify your choice.

Advice, explanation and background information
Based on your input the journey planner will display the best match to your request in a detailed way. You will be able to browse other opportunities by selecting the times left and right from the detailed suggestion (in blue). 
Apart from overall travel time, the detailed view will also provide you with more information about the number of stops, changes and the type(s) of transportation you will be using.

New advice, alter trip and return trip
On the page ‘Advice’ you will find a few options on top:

• Return trip: plan your return trip (addresses will be switched).
• Alter trip: the trip you had planned will come back on the screen, enabling you to make alterations.
• New advice: ask for a new travel advice.

Different stop, station or time
You may wish to leave from or arrive at a stop / station other than the one 9292 advises. In the advice given, you can click the blue link ‘choose alternative stop / station’. A pop-up will show you the nearest stops / stations, including walking times. Time and date can be easily adapted without having to return to the first steps of the journey planner.

Earlier, later, first and last possibility
You will always get an advice with a few alternatives. Through the options ‘earlier’ and ‘later’ more options will be offered. 'Earlier': explore the possibility of an earlier trip. 'Later': explore the possibility of a later trip. 'First': shows the very first trip possible, based on your time of departure and arrival. Last: shows the last possible trip based, on your time of departure and arrival.

Reliability of travel itinerary
How reliable is the information on this website? Is there no quicker connection? Is there no route with lesser changes? Can I reach my destination sooner if I leave home earlier? These are examples of questions regularly asked at 9292.
The 9292 website is a model of self-service and behind the displayed information a huge database is used. This contains all timetables of all public transport providers. In order to provide suitable information, 9292 works with added features, including:

• Walking speed (to give an estimate of the number of minutes you will need to reach the bus stop, tram stop or train station).
• Minimal time to change (guaranteeing the change).
• The number of changes.

These features also determine the selection of routes displayed.

Overall fastest travelling time
The advice obtained by way of the Web site is based on the fasted travelling time (subject to the time of arrival or departure you have given). You may know a longer route with fewer changes. Although this route exists, you will not find it on the screen. It is also possible that you will see an alternative advice, enabling you to start your trip later. This is due to the fact that, in principle, 9292 selects the shortest travelling time.

• Checking all advices by clicking on the grey boxes, on the left and right.
• Altering the type(s) of transport in the journey planner.
• Altering the stop / station chosen by clicking on the link ‘Choose an alternative stop / station’ in the advice given.
• Contacting 0900-9292* (€ 0,70 per minute, max. € 14,-) for personal advice.
